She Talks: An Interview With Holly Jahangiri

The Next Goal team has spent the past couple of weeks working around the clock to create the coolest new blog on the planet.  But who are these mysterious team members?  We thought you might enjoy an exclusive interview with social media diva and internet guru, Holly Jahangiri.

How did you get involved with TheNextGoal.com?

Kiesha wouldn’t make me the Simon Cowell of Weblogbetter.com’s “Surviving the Blog” contest, so I finally couldn’t stand it anymore – I had to throw my hat in the ring, rather than just passively watch from the sidelines. Also, the deadline was fast approaching and I was shocked that there weren’t even 10 entrants yet. Easiest shot at $1000 ever, right? Oh, boy, was I wrong…

Do you think it is important to keep a positive attitude?

Always – a positive attitude and a sense of humor! Maybe it’s all those times my parents read me books like “The Little Engine that Could,” but I bought it – hook, line, and sinker!

What is YOUR next goal?

To win this contest. Barring that, to see that one of our team – The Next Goal team – wins it. Because no way are we handing the pink slip to this sweet little revved up blog to Clan – what do they call themselves? Clan of the Cave Bear? No – what? Oh, ClanMassiv. There’s no way we’re giving up the Frog without a fight.

If your goal is to set goals, do you reach your goal – just by setting the goal?

HUH? I think my last brain cell just exploded. Why don’t you go interview Problogger or something, geez.

What is more important – setting a goal or reaching a goal?

Actually, it’s all the steps in between. A really big, worthwhile goal has a lot of smaller goals – and there’s a lot of learning and doing and experience along the way. That’s the part that really makes the most difference. Setting goals sets you in the right direction. Reaching them is important – but failure is a teacher, too, and sometimes leads to real breakthroughs and more important goals. I think the main thing, really, is not to be stagnant or apathetic. Don’t cut corners and take the easy way out – make the moments count. Because then you can be satisfied with the journey, whether you ultimately end up changing directions or achieving the original goal.
